To ensure that we do not take any risks with your paintwork, we measure the thickness of your paintwork before each job. To do this, we use a PTG (Paint Thickness Gauge).

These measurements are taken at various points on your bodywork (bonnet, boot, doors, etc.), enabling us to determine our approach to polishing your paintwork.

    How does a PTG work?

    The PTG is composed of several elements, including a sensor that can be found on the head of the device or via a wired sensor. This sensor is placed on the part of the bodywork that we want to measure.
    The device measures the gap between the body panel and the sensor head placed on the coating.
    This distance represents the thickness of the paint being analysed.

    Why is the information provided by the PTG important?

    It is crucial to know the thickness of a paint job before sanding and/or polishing it.
    This thickness varies according to each vehicle, make, model and year of construction.
    Polishing inevitably involves removing a (very small) layer of paint.
    The use of the PTG therefore makes it possible to determine the exact approach to polishing each vehicle.
